Veolia has submitted it’s bid for the first stage of the North London Waste Management Project (Fuel Use Contract).
The project, tendered by North London Waste Authority (NLWA), comprises two components: the Fuel Use Contract and the Waste Services Contract. NLWA is a partnership between the London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. Handling around a million tonnes of municipal waste each year, it is the second largest waste disposal authority in the UK and co-owner of the largest operational energy-from-water plant in the country.
The contract being bid on involves processing between 250,000 and 300,000 tonnes of solid recovered fuel, created by unrecyclable waste. The concession length is for 30 years.
Operis has completed a review of the financial model including tax and accounting . Operis has worked with Veolia on a number of recent waste projects including Gwyrdd, Staffordshire and Leeds Waste.
