Financial Modelling

We design bespoke financial models that give you the confidence your investment and business decisions are backed by numbers you can trust.

Our world-renowned modelling team specialises in complex modelling assignments such as regulated and digital assets, as well as portfolio modelling.

We translate those into clear and reliable models that make it quicker and easier for you to evaluate the impact of your decisions on the project and give maximum confidence to lenders.

Our financial analysts have worked on well over a thousand deals across a wide range of infrastructure sectors and countries. They are experts in project finance and understand the intricacies of these deals, as well as individual sector and country specificities.

With our in-house Tax and Accounting specialists, we can advise on the most effective tax and accounting outcome and ensure your model conforms to the most recent UK and Canadian tax legislation and accounting standards.

Made to Measure

Our team specialises in developing solutions for clients with complex assets and modelling needs.

Our models do not come off the shelf. Instead, we design bespoke financial models that meet your business needs and save you time.

Whether you need a model to support a specific transaction or as an ongoing performance monitoring tool, our models consider your business objectives, the form of your financial inputs and the flexibility of scenarios you wish to consider.

We believe that models built for specific purposes offer you the best useability and longevity.

Robust

Our modelling team works as one unit across model development and model audit. We integrate the precision associated with model audit into every model we develop.

We thoroughly test each model through built-in tailored audit checks to provide greater confidence that the results are reliable

Our typical model contains well over 100 separate audit checks, so you can have the same confidence in our model development services as you have in our audit practice.

Our modelling approach follows the methodology outlined by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. It is widely acknowledged as one of the most transparent and established examples of best practice modelling in the industry.

Easy to Use

Our mission is to bring clarity to your project regardless of its complexity. We build models that are easy to use and read and allow each stakeholder to access the relevant information to support their specific needs.

We focus on adopting a simple and straightforward structure, offering you great flexibility in running multiple scenarios and sensitivities analysis; key to the decision-making process.

Reasons to have your model built by Operis

Masters of modelling complexity

Our analytical approach to modelling and problem-solving mindset allows our team to translate complex modelling needs into clear, easy-to-use models.

Efficiency

Our modelling methodology omits unnecessary repetition unlike the methodologies used by some of our competitors. Our models are therefore smaller, less prone to errors, easier to follow, and quicker and cheaper to audit.

Innovation

We are constantly expanding the range of types of models that can be practically built in Excel, and thus can deliver complex (yet easy-to-use) solutions that our competitors cannot.

Clarity

Our models are always output-focussed, thus ensuring that any stakeholder using the model can quickly evaluate the key risks and make informed decisions.

Financial Modelling Services

Transactional Model

The complexity and differentiator of transactional modelling often lies with the structuring of senior financing. We support you by providing optimal solutions to complex covenants and constraints. Our award-winning modelling team has particular specialisms in infrastructure, energy transition and digital.

Together with advisory team, we offer the full suite of transactional support services.

We do not have a fixed scope of work with our modelling assignments. Our mandates range from spending a few days improving an existing model to full model development, modelling sensitivities for various credit committees, running model audit processes and supporting clients through to financial close.

Asset Management Modelling

We support asset managers around the world to efficiently monitor, assess and report on asset performance.

Our asset management models can receive historic data in almost any form, and the forecast projections will adapt accordingly. They allow you to focus on evaluating the critical financials of a project rather than wasting time updating an unwieldy model.

Our models are designed, inter alia, efficiently to:

  • produce key outputs for inclusion in management reports
  • calculate cover ratios and perform distribution tests
  • manage cash reserve contributions
  • manage planned as well as triggered payment mechanisms
  • predict the effect of possible change to the existing contractual arrangements
  • compare outcomes (budget vs actuals)

Portfolio Modelling

We offer asset managers an innovative and flexible approach to monitor their multi-asset portfolios.

We have created a Master Controller Dashboard. It allows you to run multiple scenarios and sensitivities across many models and collate the findings in a single spreadsheet containing a user-friendly dashboard.

Our Master Controller Dashboards enable you to efficiently:

  • aggregate results from multiple assets
  • extract KPIs
  • analyse the portfolio by geography, sector and asset class
  • apply upside and downside scenarios to individual SPVs

Not only does this save hours of analyst time, but it also reduces the errors associated with repetitive actions. It improves decision making with easy access to in-depth KPIs, consolidated statements and fund-level sensitivities.
