Operis is pleased to have supported TAQA in their bid for building, designing, and maintaining the Hassyan Independent Water Plant. On 22 May 2023, TAQA submitted the bid to DEWA to acquire the desalination project, which aims to produce 100% of desalinated water by 2023 through a combination of clean energy and waste heat. The plant’s water production is based on reverse osmosis, which requires less energy than multi-stage flash distillation, making it a more sustainable choice for water desalination. This project is a part of Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy which aims to provide 75% of Dubai’s power through clean sources by 2050.

The bid winner is set to be announced by DEWA in the second quarter of 2023 and we look forward to continuing our partnership with TAQA through to financial close of the project, which is currently scheduled for October 2023.

Operis performed a complete model audit including a full tax and accounting review.
