On September 8, 2017, a Bird-Kiewit led consortium, alongside two other consortia, submitted a bid for the Stouffville Stations redevelopment project in Ontario. The project is part of the Regional Express Rail (RER) programme being procured by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario under the design-build-finance P3 model.
The RER programme includes adding tracks and associated signals, electrification of much of the rail network, installing new train control systems to enable higher frequency services, modification of existing stations; and acquiring electric locomotives and new vehicles
The Stouffville GO Corridor represents one portion of this larger multi-billion dollar project and comprises upgrades to tracks, platforms, amenities and new pedestrian connections at the Milliken, Agincourt, and Unionville stations, as well as a railway overpass bridge at Steeles Avenue.
Having worked on several RER projects such as the Highway 401 rail tunnel, Operis is delighted to have extended its track record and provided model audit due diligence for Bird and Kiewit.
