Initial bids were submitted on December 7, 2012, to build and operate the M8’s 6-mile ‘missing link’ between Glasgow and Edinburgh by upgrading the A8 between Baillieston, Glasgow and Newhouse in Lanarkshire, Scotland. This upgrade is intended to provide faster journey times for around 115,000 vehicles per day on the road’s busiest sections, and offer improved road safety through the reduction of traffic on adjacent local roads.
Operis undertook an audit of the financial model prior to bid stage on behalf of the the Scottish Roads Partnership consortium, comprising Amey, Cintra, Meridiam and Uberior. The procuring authority is Transport Scotland, with financial close expected to occur towards the end of 2013.
