Operis recently completed a financial model audit for the Carlisle Northern Development Route operating model. The concession contract will run for 30 years from the financial close date of July 2009.
The project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the new Carlisle Northern Development Route from Junction 44 of the M6 at Greymoorhill, to the Wigton roundabout west of Carlisle, which connects to the A595. The road is just over 5 miles long and includes 8 new roundabouts, 3 new bridges and the demolition of an old bridge, 4 underpasses, 15 flood relief culverts and 3 traffic counters. The project aims to greatly improve road links between West Cumbria, Scotland and the North East as well as maximising development opportunities at Kingmoor Park and improving traffic flow through Carlisle city centre.
The operation and maintenance services for the project will be provided by Balfour Beatty, who has been Operis’s client for this and all previous stages of review for this project.
