Two consortia submitted their bids for Phase Two of the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) project on 20th May 2010. The qualified bidders, ‘Arrow’ and ‘Tramlink Nottingham’, are competing for a design, build, finance and operate contract. Nottingham City Council is evaluating the bids and is expected to announce the preferred bidder in the first quarter of 2011.
Phase Two will extend the existing NET Line 1 with two further lines connecting Clifton, Wilford and other suburban areas located in the south of the city. The extension is 7.6 km in length, with 13 tram stops and is expected to attract approximately 3.9 million passengers a year.
