Operis is pleased to have assisted Fibrus, a full-fibre broadband provider owned by Infracapital, in successfully raising GBP 100 million to expedite the rollout of fibre broadband across Cumbria. This funding, secured through an accordion facility provided by Fibrus’s existing lenders, will enable the installation of fibre broadband infrastructure to 110,000 homes in the region over the next two years. This project aligns with the UK government’s Project Gigabit initiative, which aims to bring high-speed connectivity to underserved areas across the country.
The financing agreement, announced on 26 August, involved key lenders – including UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB), ING, LBBW, ABN Amro, NatWest, and Sabadell. UKIB played a pivotal role, contributing £55 million to this round of financing. This builds on the foundation of a £220 million financing agreement signed with the same lending group in April 2022. These combined efforts mark another milestone in Fibrus’s mission to bridge the digital divide by delivering essential connectivity solutions to rural communities.
