Project
The NBP is the largest telecommunications procurement ever undertaken by the Irish State to revolutionise its broadband network by delivering affordable, high-speed broadband to over 544,000 premises across Ireland. This radical transformation will bridge the gap between rural and urban communities in broadband availability and quality.
The 25-year build, finance, own and operate project is financed using a combination of State subsidies and commercial investment. Designing and surveying in the first deployment areas began in January 2020.
Key partners and subcontractors for this project include KN Group, 4Site, Actavo and Nokia.
Operis role
Operis provided a full model audit for this project, including reviewing the model’s tax and accounting treatments.
A large modelling team
The scale of this project resulted in four interlinked financial models to be run simultaneously. Operis has the team size and depth of experience to audit these four models concurrently, enabling the audit process to be completed seamlessly.
Support beyond the transaction
Following the successful financial close, Operis is supporting NBI by developing an operating model for the NBP. This bespoke financial model focusses on usability and enables NBI to monitor the ongoing project cashflows quickly and accurately, including the incorporation of actuals data along with changing budget information.
Thanks to its considerable modelling resources, Operis can deploy huge resources onto projects to meet tight deadlines. Our modelling expertise and collaborative approach also mean we can support clients beyond the financial transaction with ancillary modelling services.
