Soitec Solar has successfully placed ZAR 1 billion of notes which will form part of the financing of the Touwsrivier solar project in South Africa. The 44 MWp project is being developed under the South African government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer programme and will make use of innovative concentrated photovoltaic technology. The electricity generated will be sold for 20 years through a PPA with Eskom, the state-owned energy utility and backed by the national government.
Operis provided due diligence services on the financial model and assisted Soitec in negotiations with the South African Department of Energy. Operis also provided due diligence services on previous versions of the model during earlier stages of the bid process.
