Balfour Beatty has successfully reached financial close for the acquisition of the Thanet offshore transmission project on December 17, 2014. The final capex value was £163 million.
The Thanet transmission cable connects the national grid to the 300MW Thanet wind farm off the coast of Kent, which is currently the third-largest in the country.
The project marks the second to close of three OFTOs that Balfour Beatty have won the concession rights for. Operis are pleased to have provided model audit services for each of these OFTOs, with the third – Gwynt y Mor – set to reach financial close later this year.
