Southwest Connect submitted a bid to design, build, finance and operate the south-west section of the Calgary ring road, on 10 June 2016.
The bidding consortium comprises of ACS Infrastructure Canada, Aecon Concessions, Carillion Canada and Hochtief PPP Solutions.
Procured by the Government of Alberta Ministry of Transportation, the highway will connect Lott Creek Boulevard, on Highway 8 South, to Sheriff King Street, on Highway 22X.
The development involves the construction of 31 km of six and eight lane divided road, 46 bridges, including bridges over the Elbow River and Fish Creek, 1 rail underpass and 14 interchanges. Construction is due to begin in September 2016 and the road should be operational by October 2021.
