Operis was engaged by Pulse Clean Energy to provide comprehensive formal model audit in support of securing a £220 million in green loan financing for the development of six new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK. With a combined capacity of approximately 700MWh, these projects mark a significant step forward in the UK’s transition to renewable energy.
This financing represents an important milestone in Pulse’s mission to make clean, reliable, and affordable energy a reality. The funding was provided by a consortium of six international banks, led by Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), and including NatWest, ABN AMRO, NORD/LB, Investec, and CIBC.
Of the six new BESS projects, four involve converting former diesel generators into energy storage systems. The financing will also support an existing portfolio of nine assets, which are either already operational or in the final stages of construction. All assets are expected to be fully online by 2027.
Working closely with both Pulse and Santander, Operis mobilised a cross-office team from London and Toronto, bringing together the full breadth of its expertise to deliver this project successfully and on schedule.
