Operis is pleased to have supported Pomerleau Health Partners in their successful bid to design, build, and finance the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) Redevelopment Project. On October 3rd, the $1.8 billion CAD project was awarded by Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and WAHA to Pomerleau in collaboration with the Ontario government.
This project marks a significant step in healthcare infrastructure for some of Ontario’s most northern and remote communities, with the development of a modern regional healthcare campus in Moosonee and an ambulatory care centre on Moose Factory Island. Once completed, the new regional health campus will include a hospital with a larger 24-hour emergency department, an ambulatory care clinic, a 32-bed Elder Care Lodge, staff residences, and a hostel for patients and visitors.
The WAHA Redevelopment Project is among the first to use the Progressive P3 model, which enables earlier collaboration between public and private partners to optimize project planning and delivery. Operis is excited to contribute to this innovative approach, having performed a formal audit of the financial model.
