We are pleased to announce our recent role in supporting Rock Rail and aberdeen in the procurement of new rolling stock from Alstom. Their acquisition of 31 six-car Talent 3 Plus trains includes long-term maintenance and support from the French manufacturer, ensuring reliable service throughout the fleet’s operational life.
The financial model, developed by Stifel on behalf of Rock Rail and aberdeen, was audited by Operis to provide lenders with confidence in the project’s financial projections. Transactions of this magnitude underscores the importance of robust financial analysis, particularly in an era where inflation and interest rates heighten the need for accurate, data-driven forecasting.
For passengers in Baden-Württemberg, where most of the rolling stock will be deployed, the arrival of these new trains marks a significant step forward in modernising regional transport. As the region transitions to ETCS (European Train Control System) signalling, this investment will enhance network compatibility, increase competition, and improve the availability of rolling stock and trained staff.
The Saale-Thuringia-Südharz network will also benefit from the new fleet, with three Talent 3 Plus trains boosting capacity on this five-state regional network, operated by Abellio since 2015.
As specialists in public transport infrastructure, we continue to see strong demand for modern, electrified rail solutions across Europe. We are proud to have partnered with Rock Rail and aberdeen once again, supporting the transition to greener, more efficient rail travel that delivers enhanced passenger experiences, lower emissions, and increased capacity.
