Balfour Beatty achieved financial close on the North West Fire and Rescue Services PFI Project on 23 February 2011.
With the fire and rescue services of Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria working in collaboration, the project involves the design, construction, funding and management of 16 new Community Fire Stations in the North West of England. Construction is expected to last 28 months, with total capital expenditure of £50.7 million. Following construction the operating stage of the project will last 25 years.
Senior funding of £50.2 million was provided equally by Dexia and Nord LB.
