One week is a long time in politics, but one month at Operis has just flown by!
Since I joined the company we have already submitted already four proposals on transaction opportunities as diverse as a brownfield project finance in the Middle East, the acquisition of a greenfield renewable portfolio in Europe and a refinancing in the UK.
When drafting these proposals and engaging with clients I was pleased by a number of realisations.
The Operis analytical team constitutes an unrivalled platform: who has 40 modellers to call on, some of them with more than 10 years’ experience?
The quality of their modelling, combined with a pragmatic and no-drama advisory service, has led to many repeat mandates from highly satisfied clients.
Existing and new clients value the flexible approach Operis has to scoping a mandate, ranging from a bare-bones modelling mandate to a “modelling+” hybrid mandate and our full-scope advisory services.
My experience as principal at various fund managers has also resonated with clients as they are comforted by my ability to put myself in their shoes. Like one of the project finance MDs used to tell me at Deutsche Bank, the best advisors are those who think about the investment as their own investment.
An open corporate culture, like that at Operis, has meant that starting a new job remotely via Zoom has been trouble-free, as long as the broadband signal doesn’t drop…
Thanks to all my new colleagues for all their support in the past few weeks.
