DC Leisure Limited were selected as preferred bidder for the Amber Valley PFI Project to redevelop three existing leisure centres in Amber Valley, Derbyshire. The capital value of the project was approximately £20m. Construction will start in April 2006 and will be completed early 2008. Barclays Bank is providing the funding.

The three leisure centres are Ripley, Heanor, and Alfreton. For Ripley, the whole existing centre will be demolished and replaced by new facilities; for Heanor the existing swimming pool and ancillary facilities will be demolished and replaced by new facilities; for Alfreton, the existing pool will be demolished, and replaced by an Olympic size pool, and new fitness facilities. Furthermore, an extensive refurbishment of the sports hall, practice hall, and bowls hall will be carried out.

Operis reviewed the financial model prior to financial close on behalf of the consortium and lender. Financial Close took place on Wednesday 12th April in Sheffield.
