The Fife Hospital PPP in Scotland reached financial close on 30 April, 2009.
The project falls under the umbrella of the Fife General Hospitals Maternity Services project, which itself forms part of the Right for Fife Strategy, aimed at modernising health services across Fife and developing diagnostic and treatment services in the area.
The concession is over 32 years, which includes a 30 month construction phase for building a new wing at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. This new facility will now have 11 operating theatres, an emergency care centre, 13 general wards, surgical and medical assessment units, a maternity unit, a women and children’s unit, day intervention, critical care, coronary care and renal and dialysis facilities.
The Consort Group, consisting of HSBC, Balfour Beatty Capital, Balfour Beatty Construction, Haden Young and Balfour Beatty Workplace Limited has been appointed to manage the project.
Debt of circa £170m was provided by a club of four banks comprising Helaba, Lloyds, NAB and SMBC.
Operis conducted financial model auditing services and a full tax and accounting review on behalf of the funders and sponsors.
