Bids were submitted on May 29, 2014, to build an independent water and power project known as Facility D for Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation.
As part of the country’s efforts to meet the growing demand for water and electricity, this will be the first privately financed power project to involve outside developers since 2009.
The construction of the 2000 MW power plant and 144 million gallons per day seawater desalination plant will take three and a half years, and will be operated by the preferred proponent for 25 years. The awarding of the contract will be made in the upcoming few months.
As part of the bid process, Operis are pleased to have completed a full model audit, including an accounting review, on behalf of Marubeni, Chubu Electric, and their financial advisor HSBC.
