The Government of New Brunswick, Canada, is acting on its commitment to complete Route 1 as a four-lane highway, which would make the highway safer and more efficient. The Route 1 Gateway Project aims to accomplish this through the construction of 55 km of new four-lane highway, as well as selected upgrades to improve existing sections of Route 1. It is expected that the construction work would finish no later than 31 July 2013, with the duration of the project to last 30 years.
This project will help stimulate the economy of New Brunswick and also provide lasting infrastructure to support New Brunswick in its self-sufficiency goals. The Route 1 Gateway Project is jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments.
Operis provided financial model due diligence on behalf of the New Brunswick Transportation Group, one of three consortia that have submitted bids for this project. Other consortia also bidding consist of the Dexter Team and the Brun-Way Group.
