Operis has completed its review of the model used by the Acciona, Samsung and Sogex consortium in their bid for the Al-Ghubrah Desalination Plant construction project.

The Omani Public Authority for Water and Electricity has requested proposals for the greenfield plant due to the growing demand for fresh water from the cities within Oman, which is expected to grow by 15% per year resulting in an additional requirement of 133,000 cubic meters of water per day . Seven consortia bid for the project, with financial close forecast for 31 December 2012.

Operis’s role on this project was to review the bid stage financial model and it’s inherent tax and accounting treatments.
