Drivers Medical Group of the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
processes around 600 000 cases a year of licence holders and applicants, who
may have a medical condition that could affect their fitness to drive. Of
these about 4 000 per annum currently require assessment for drugs
misuse/dependency including a urinary drug screen. The
Drivers Medical Group requires a contractor to provide an
efficient, accurate and confidential drugs of abuse screening and
confirmation service, to assist DVLA in determining an applicant's or licence
holders medical fitness to hold a driving licence. Medical
