Provision of a Consultant Service and cover to patients requiring elective orthopaedic care. This will include:

Seeing new patients referred to the Trust from GPs.

Arranging any diagnostic tests or investigations.

Participating in preoperative assessment, where required.

Performing surgery.

Arranging appropriate follow up of patients.

Providing emergency cover in the event of complications arising from elective surgery.

All work to be performed on Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust premises.

All parts of the patient pathway need to be in line with the 18 week targets, and the Trusts internal targets.

All consultants must be appropriately skilled in the speciality and able to demonstrate up to date practices.
